Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1 large egg + 2 egg yolks

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup chopped up dark chocolate

  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Trust me, you want to take Will's word on this! This cookies are to die for. The secret sauce is the brown butter. I am a firm believer that brown butter makes everything better.




Instructions:

1. Brown Butter Alchemy:

Ā Ā Ā In a saucepan, brown 1 cup of unsalted butter on low-medium heat for 5-10 minutes. Continually stir to avoid burning. Once browned, transfer to a separate bowl and let it cool for 10 minutes.


2. Sugar Symphony:

Ā Ā Ā Beat the brown butter with 1 1/4 cups brown sugar and 1/3 cup granulated sugar until fully mixed (about 2 minutes).


3. Eggstravaganza:

Ā Ā Ā Add 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. Beat again until well incorporated.


4. Dry Mix Dance:

Ā Ā Ā In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix this into the wet mixture, creating a perfect cookie dough.



5. Triple Chocolate Bliss:

Believe it or not-- brown butter is butter that is browned. In order to achieve brown butter, place your butter in sauce pan over medium heat. This process takes anywhere between 5-10 minutes. Make sure you stir the butter throughout so it doesn't burn. Once the butter is successfully browned and smells nutty you are done! Place in a bowl and let it cool down for 10 minutes.


What is the hype about brown butter?

If I have the option (and extra time) I would bake with brown butter for every recipe. It adds a depth of caramel & nutty flavor to your dessert.
